I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. I knew I wanted to make movies since I was 10 years old and had a camera in my hands for the first time. After graduating from film school in my home country, I went to New York City to work on several projects as a shooter and editor.
My comedy work, The Alejandro Hernandez Show, which focused on monologues and sketches about Hispanic culture and social media behavior, has garnered more than 14 million views on YouTube and a following of over 700,000 on social media. The show started in 2009 when I was only 19 years old and ended in 2013.
My films have won awards and have been screened all over the world. Alt, a Sci-Fi short film, was released in more than 100 mainstream theaters in Venezuela as part of the previews and shown at film festivals in countries such as the US, Argentina and Chile. Another short, Why We Feel Alone was hand-picked by the Vimeo staff and featured on their Discover page, reaching over 50,000 views in its first week.
I’ve worked with brands in Latin America such as Frito-Lay and Pepsi as influencer and content creator, and also worked as an editor for personalities and media companies in the US such as actor George Takei, Univision, Condé Nast and CBS.
